In 2015 Olivier was appointed principal oboe of the London Symphony Orchestra.
Sought after as a soloist, chamber musician and teacher, Olivier has performed widely in Europe, Japan and the USA.
Recent highlights include his BBC Proms debut at Cadogan Hall, and concerts at Wigmore Hall with pianists Alasdair Beatson and Stephen Hough (broadcast by BBC Radio 3).
Committed to new music, he premiered new works by Januibe Tejera and Tonia Ko at the University of Texas and University of Berkeley, California and collaborated with the Phillips Collection (Washington D.C.) in a project exploring the creative dialogues between music and visual art.
In 2021 Delphian Records released his recording of Mozart Violin Sonatas to critical acclaim.
An avid chamber musician, over the last year Olivier has taken part in the Crusell (Finland), Delft (Netherlands), Newbury Spring and Winchester Chamber Music Festivals (UK) and undertaken tours with Berlin Counterpoint in the USA and Canada.
This season Olivier returns as soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Franz Xavier Roth performing Zimmermann’s Oboe Concerto. He takes part in the Musikdorf-Ernen Festival in Switzerland and gives concerts in Brazil and Italy.
In demand as guest principal, recent appearances include the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and Mahler Chamber Orchestra. He has given masterclasses in Dresden, Leipzig, Novara, the Voksenåsen Summer Academy and Juilliard School, among many others.
Born in Nice, Olivier studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris. In 2016 he was a prize-winner at the YCAT International Auditions. He is a Professor at the Royal College of Music.
