The Times on Giselle
Following her acclaimed Giselle in 2019, award-winning South African choreographer Dada Masilo returns to Brighton Dome with the UK premiere of her newest work, The Sacrifice.
Exploring the concept of sacrifice in all its forms, and inspired by Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, The Sacrifice combines the European heritage of this monumental ballet with the uniquely rhythmic and expressive movements of Tswana, the traditional dance of Botswana. Rooted in storytelling and healing ceremonies, Masilo reinvents this classic tale for a new generation of audiences.
Featuring an original score performed live on stage, this is an unforgettable and deeply uplifting experience from one of the most exciting choreographers working in dance today
