Take 5 with Brighton Dome Comedy Festival
We caught up with our Comedy Producer, Rosie Crane, who gave us all the inside knowledge leading up to our first inaugural Brighton Dome Comedy Festival, 24-27 October...
1. What makes Brighton Dome Comedy Festival different to other comedy festivals?
Alongside our pick of the very best well-known and up and coming comedy acts, Brighton Dome Comedy Festival also includes free events, interactive events and family shows all under one (huge) roof.
2. This will be the first time ever that all events at an in-person UK comedy festival will be captioned – why do you think this is so important?
We are always working to increase accessibility to all events - our new Comedy Festival felt like a great opportunity to make captioning the norm across all shows, so that no-one’s choices are limited and even more people feel welcomed.
3. Tell us some of the acts and events you’re most excited about!
I’m super excited for us to launch Live at Brighton Dome Bleeped starring Finlay Christie and Daniel Foxx. With an age rating of 11+, it’s the first time we have programmed an evening comedy show with grown-up comics specifically for younger people and those who prefer their comedy a little cleaner.
I also can’t wait for the big Saturday night Live at Brighton Dome show with Sara Pascoe, Jamali Maddix, Phil Kay, Rachel Fairburn AND Jam Tarts choir singing Modern Toss’s Periodic Table of Swearing. It’s going to be huge!
4. What makes Brighton the perfect city to host a comedy festival?
Brighton has an incredible comedy scene, with very discerning audiences - we know our city does festivals like nowhere else so it’s only right we have one just for the very best in comedy!
5. Can you sum up Brighton Dome Comedy Festival in three words?
Ridiculousness for everyone
