On The Day – Your Gig Experience

We know how exciting gig day can be, and we’re here to make sure you have an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re heading straight to the barrier or soaking up the atmosphere from the back, here’s everything you need to know to make your visit safe and enjoyable.

Before the Show - Queueing & Accessing the Venues

How early can I queue?

We recommend queueing an hour before doors open at the earliest, and you’ll still find a good place to stand and watch the show. If you want to queue early, we can accommodate this safely from 10am on the day of the event.

Can I queue overnight?

Camping overnight or before the day of the show is not permitted.

Can you hold my place in the queue?

No, sorry.

Queuing considerately

Please don’t consume alcohol and move away from others if you are a smoker. Please bring water, and dress appropriately for the weather. Please use the litter bags provided.

Can I get into the venue early?

We can generally arrange early access to the venue for access requirements, but we can’t always offer early access to the auditorium. There is sometimes high demand for early access, and we can’t always accommodate everyone who requests this.

Please join our Access Scheme and we will do our best to help you.

Do you have a separate access entrance?

Brighton Dome doesn’t have a separate access entrance so please use the entrance number which will be included in your preshow email. The route to the auditorium is step free and a short distance. Please get in touch with the Access team if you have any concerns.

Inside the Venue – Before the Show

How big is Brighton Dome / will I be able to see at a standing show?

Our venues aren’t stadium size – at standing shows, the view of the stage is good from anywhere you’re standing.

Can I reserve a space at the barrier?

No – it isn’t possible to reserve a space at the barrier as this space is generally crowded and there is a lot of audience movement.

Can I run to the barrier to hold a space?

No – running is not permitted in the venue. You put your safety and the safety of others at risk by running so please don’t do this.

My friends are sat in the Stalls, and I have a Circle ticket - can I move to sit with them?

Generally, this cannot be permitted due to the limited capacity in both areas. If the show has tickets remaining, it may be possible to swap your tickets, subject to any price difference. Please visit the Ticket Office to ask.

What if I can’t stand for long periods of time?

We recommend you book a seat in the Circle or request a reserved seat in our Stalls seated area.

For our Concert Hall venue we recommend booking a seat in the Circle or request a reserved seat in our Stalls general admission area. This area has lots of availability for unreserved seating on the day.

In our newer Corn Exchange venue we offer reserved seating in our balcony area and for those who may be unable to use stairs we have spaces available for reservation on our wheelchair accessible platform. Please email us ahead of your visit so that we can ensure we have space allocated for you and on the night visit our friendly team at the Access desk who will provide you with the relevant wristband. Please not the Corn Exchange balcony is not lift accessible and the nearest toilets are downstairs.

For shows taking place in our Studio Theatre we can reserve seating in the balcony on request. This area is lift accessible.

Inside the Venue - During the Show

What do I do if I need help at the show?

Our well-trained staff are happy to assist you anytime, please approach a member of staff if you require assistance. Our stewards wear black shirts labelled Brighton Dome; our Security wear high vis, and our Volunteers wear plain black clothing with a Volunteer lanyard. You can also approach a member of bar staff working behind any of our bars.

Do you have a quiet space?

Yes, we have a quiet resting space available at all shows, usually this is the Founders Room which is located off the Foyer Bar. If you think you may need to visit the quiet space, please contact access@brightondome.org before the event or speak to a member of staff on the night.

Do you provide ear plugs or ear defenders?

We can provide ear plugs – please ask a steward or member of staff. You can read more here.

Complimentary hearing protection is available at all our events. Ear plugs can be found on your way into the auditorium and ear defenders are available on request.

Can I take photos?

Professional cameras are not permitted.

Some artists request no photography at their events – please check signage around the venue.

How can I look after myself at the show?

Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Make sure you eat before coming to the show to avoid feeling faint or sick. If you feel unwell whilst you are in the venue, please ask a member of staff who can call one of our professional first aiders if needed.

What toilet facilities are available?

We have 2 accessible, gender-neutral toilets on the ground floor and one in the circle (upstairs). There are male and female gender inclusive toilets on both levels. Our full toilet policy can be found here.

Respect everyone

We want to keep all our artists, visitors and staff safe. Abuse, harassment or aggressive behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated, and action will be taken, including asking you to leave. We take harassment and abuse very seriously and our staff are trained to support you. If you experience any unwanted behaviour in the venue, please ask any member of staff so that they can help you.

What can I bring to the show?

Can I bring a bag?

Please visit https://brightondome.org/plan-your-visit/your-safety/ for information regarding what you can bring into the venue. Please avoid bringing large bags to the venue and, where possible, no bags larger than A4 size.

Can I bring food and drink to the venue?

Food and drink are not permitted but sealed bottled water is fine.

If you have an access requirement that means you need to bring specific food or drink, please let us know in advance access@brightondome.org

Metal bottles are not permitted.

Can I bring and store my e-scooter?

Electric scooters are not permitted in the venue due to space limitations and fire risk.

Access Requirements

How do I claim a PA ticket?

We offer free Personal Assistant (PA) tickets for those who can’t attend the event without a personal assistant - please sign up to our Access Scheme to facilitate this by completing this  short online form. You will be asked to share any supporting documents which we'll keep a copy of for our records.

We want to ensure PA tickets are available for those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend the event at all, please keep this in mind when applying. More information can be found on our Access page.

Whilst you are waiting for your form to be processed, you can call our Ticket Office on 01273 709709 to reserve tickets which can then be paid for at another date. Our up-to-date opening hours can be found here

I am booked on the wheelchair platform; how many PAs can sit on the platform with me?

Our platforms fit one PA per wheelchair user. There are seats directly behind for any others in your party.

If you will require a balcony seat please get in touch with our ticket office.

How do I contact Brighton Dome about specific access requirements?

The best way to contact us is by email access@brightondome.org

You can also ring Monday to Friday, 10–4pm on 01273 261 541.

If your query is about booking tickets, please ring the Ticket Office on 01273 709709, the access line cannot book your tickets. The access inbox is not monitored continuously, and we aren’t able to answer all queries on the same day. If you have a last-minute request, please call the Ticket Office or speak to us on arrival.

Can I bring a service dog?

We welcome all assistance dogs as they have high levels of training and are used to a variety of different environments. These can either stay with you or we can arrange to look after your dog outside of the auditorium. Please contact access@brightondome.org if you wish to make this arrangement. The Ticket Office will be able to advise on the best seats for you and your dog. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate emotional support animals as they do not have the same level of training, and our venues can be a busy and intense environment for untrained animals.

What does general admission/unreserved seating mean?

At standing events in the Concert Hall, general admission tickets admit you into our downstairs area (the Stalls) only. The Stalls have a standing area and some unreserved seating. If you need to reserve a seat in this area, please contact access@brightondome.org
