Experimental pianist and earsthetic’s artist in residence Sarah Nicolls has invented an ‘Inside-Out Piano’, which will be installed in the Café-bar as an opportunity for members of the public to come and try it out for themselves.
It was designed to make the 'inside' of the instrument (the strings, struts and soundboard) more available to the pianist than on a traditional grand or upright piano, for the purpose of playing new, strange and beautiful sounds.
Come and discover your own favourite sound and take your photo with this unique, sculptural instrument. Sarah will be on hand on Sat 6 Dec, 1-4pm to help children play the piano and to demonstrate its features.
