Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival (BDBF) is a charity operating three stunning listed buildings located on the Royal Pavilion Estate which are used as multi arts venues. The venues present all types of performance activity and deliver community and commercial events. BDBF also produces and delivers The Brighton Festival each May.

The Head of Visitor Services is a leadership role overseeing several of the operational areas running the venues and Brighton Festival. The Visitor Services team encompasses a large Front of House staff and volunteer team, the Stage Door/ Facilities team and the Event Management team who are central to planning conference and community events and who duty manage activities across the operation.

The Visitor Services Team is the largest within the operations team, so the role requires proven experience leading large cross-functional teams within a busy and complex working environment and in every aspect of successful people management.

We are seeking someone with significant industry experience, within a similar leadership role, who has a strong understanding of the front of house and general operation of events both in venues and ideally in unusual environments / outdoors. Knowledge, genuine commitment to and experience of all aspects of safety, security and licensing at events is a must as the role is key to ensuring events are run safely and professionally.

The role offers the ability to be strategically involved with some events from an early stage and with support from the Visitor Services Managers oversees the running of all the FOH and BOH (non-stage) operation, devising operational procedures, controlling costs and increasing income for use towards our charitable aims.

The Heads of Department are responsible for a budget and for contributing to and delivering on business plan objectives including in respect of environmental sustainability, financial sustainability, equality and diversity and standards of visitor service.
