'A brilliant show! A masterpiece of inclusivity, creativity and joy’ – Disabled + Disobedient audience member

BSL interpreted by Jill Blackadder + Marco Nardi

A touch tour will take place before the performance at 6.15pm. To book your place, please email abs.reeve@brightondome.org. Visual notes will be available in advance of the performance in audio and written formats.

This isn't just a cabaret; it's a full-throttle, genre-bending celebration of defiance and creativity. Hosted by the fabulous Erin Enfys, Disabled + Disobedient brings you an eclectic line up of the best deaf, disabled and neurodivergent talent on offer - and we're celebrating our first birthday with a focus on JOY!

But not the glossy, surface-level kind. We’re talking about joy as protest, as a life-force, as something hard-won. The kind of joy that can sit alongside grief, rage, fatigue — and still burn bright. - Erin Enfys

Join us for an unforgettable birthday party with performances from Ernest Device, Tricky, Alex Fincher, Dad, and Tom Marshman before we close the night with an after party DJ'd by Erin James.

Disabled + Disobedient is co-produced by Brighton Dome & Erin Enfys, and aims to benefit and platform local deaf, disabled and neurodivergent artists, creatives and audiences

Your host

Erin Enfys (they/them)

Erin Enfys (they/them) is a disabled, neurodivergent and queer-non binary performer, writer, and musician based in Brighton. They trained in Musical Theatre at the London College of Music and have had a diverse career in theatre, film and musicals. They create subversive, authentic, community-driven performances that are informed by their own lived experience.

Your line up

Ernest Device

Ernest Device: drag king, dandy boy, cosplayer.

Here to provide you with the fruitest comedy and nerdiest delights. So nerdy in fact, that he’s named after his Dungeons and Dragons character. This act will be homage to DnD, nerd culture and how becoming someone else can help you come to terms with yourself.

Tricky stands looking at the audience. They have dramatic makeup and wear a patterned waistcoat. One hand is behind their back and the other reaches behind their head with splayed fingers. Projected, drawn hands with long finger nails reach towards them

Tricky

Tricky is an Essex beastie with a thirst for the cynical and an academic in oversharing. From poetic "hai-poos", to "dragimation" this living political cartoon will showcase their own crippled existence through song, theatre and being just being a REALLY big fan of the Department of Work and Pensions.

Alex Fincher looks towards the camera. They have dramatic makeup, wear a big necklace and have tightly plaited braids

Alex Fincher

Introducing Alex Fincher, a multi-talented artist breaking boundaries in the world of music and entertainment. This singer-songwriter, music producer, and mesmerising drag performer is a force to be reckoned with.

Dad

Dad (Bertie Hodd) is an award-winning multi-skilled hyper-hyphenated performer and live artist working across comedy, drag, theatre, clowning, directing and producing. Bertie's work is based in political comedy, mundane cabaret and audience connectivity. They like to make work that is inherently stupid and surprisingly resonant and always, full of heart.

Tom looks at the camera wearing a colourful faux fur cropped jacked. They have one hand behind their head and their long hair is swept over one shoulder

Tom Marshman

Tom Marshman is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans theatre, cabaret, and socially engaged practice. Exploring overlooked queer histories and outsider narratives, his projects often emerge from conversations with participants. Using a distinctive visual style, he blends humour, intimacy, and storytelling to challenge archival silences and celebrate everyday lives.
